• What is hair transplantation?

Hair Transplantation is the action of transplanting the hair follicles taken from the back area of the head where hair is dense, to the parts of the head where hair is scarce with an appropriate operation.

• Follicular unit extraction (FUE)

With Follicular Unit Extraction or FUE harvesting, individual follicular units containing 1 to 4 hairs are removed under local anesthesia; this micro removal typically uses tiny punches of between 0.6mm and 1.0mm in diameter. The surgeon then uses very small micro blades or fine needles to puncture the sites for receiving the grafts, placing them in a predetermined density and pattern, and angling the wounds in a consistent fashion to promote a realistic hair pattern. The technicians generally do the final part of the procedure, inserting the individual grafts in place.

• Direct hair implantation (DHI)

DHI is the newest method in hair transplantation. It is faster than the FUE technique and offers quicker recovery as well as stunning long term results. During DHI, the extraction and implantation are combined. Hair follicles are extracted and then embedded directly into the recipient areas without the prior need of creating incisions. This is done using an implanting device (the Choi pen).

• What it PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)?

PRP is used for quick healing of the scars and supporting quick hair growth. PRP treatment helps weak hair follicles vulnerable to be loss to gain to be revitalized. • How is PRP liquid obtained?

1. As in all blood laboratories, 10 cc of blood is drawn from the patient to be treated with PRP.
2. Drawn blood is transferred to a special device in a sterile tube for the purposes of obtaining the platelet rich part of blood.
3. Blood cells are spun in a centrifuge and the platelet rich cells of the blood is densified.

Platelet rate in PRP can be increased 4-8 times with this procedure. The studies showed that the growth factor of the hair follicles depends on the platelets.

• How is PRP liquid applied?

First, anesthesia is applied. Then the PRP liquid is injected into the hair roots. The injection process is painless and takes a short time (2-3 minutes). Patients can then go back to their normal daily lives and there will be no swelling or bruising after this procedure.
